Our Methodology

How we handle every piece that comes in

Every watch that arrives at Maneekala — whether for a simple battery change or a more involved vintage restoration — goes through the same initial stage: a careful look at the case, crown, crystal, and where possible the movement. This takes a few minutes and costs nothing.

From that point, we tell you what we see and what we propose. If the watch needs work, we explain what is involved, how long it will take, and what it will cost. If the watch looks fine, we say so. Work only starts once you are satisfied with the plan.

On completion, each piece is tested — for timekeeping, water resistance where applicable, and the condition of any new components. A brief written note accompanies the watch when you collect it.

Quartz watch battery service

Service 01

Quartz & Battery Service

฿1,800 THB

A considerate battery and seal service for quartz watches, including a full movement check so small issues are caught early. A gentle way to keep a favourite everyday piece running steadily. We use batteries suited to the movement type — not the nearest available equivalent — and replace the crown gasket as a matter of course.

  • New battery, matched to movement specification
  • Crown and case back gaskets replaced
  • Full movement inspection — notes shared with you
  • Water resistance test after reassembly
  • Written service record included

Typical Duration

Same day for most quartz watches. Waiting is welcome for straightforward battery changes.

Best for

Everyday quartz watches that have stopped or are running slow. Also suitable as a periodic maintenance service every 2–3 years.

Vintage watch restoration

Service 02

Vintage Timepiece Restoration

฿5,750 THB

Patient restoration of older watches with respect for their history and originality. Each proposed step is explained clearly, and the work only begins once you are content with the plan. Vintage restoration is the most involved service we offer, and it receives the most attention — including a full movement strip, clean, oil, and reassembly where necessary.

  • Full movement disassembly, cleaning, and lubrication
  • Parts sourced with originality in mind
  • Timekeeping checked against standard before completion
  • Step-by-step plan agreed before any work starts
  • Comprehensive written service record

Typical Duration

Two to four weeks, depending on the movement and parts availability. We agree a collection date before you leave the watch with us.

Best for

Family heirlooms, pre-quartz mechanical pieces, and watches with sentimental or collector value. Also suitable for watches that have sat unworn for many years.

Watch crystal replacement

Service 03

Crystal Replacement

฿3,500 THB

Sourcing and fitting of the correct crystal to restore clarity and protection, matched to the original where possible. A tidy, considerate fix for a scratched or clouded watch face. We stock a range of common sizes and materials, and can source less common specifications with a short lead time.

  • Mineral glass, sapphire, and acrylic options available
  • Sized and profiled to match the original where possible
  • Gasket replaced as part of fitting
  • Water resistance verified after fitting
  • Written note of crystal type fitted

Typical Duration

One to two days for in-stock crystals. Up to one week if the crystal requires ordering. We confirm before any work begins.

Best for

Watches with cracked, heavily scratched, or fogged crystals. Also appropriate where the original crystal has been replaced with the wrong type.
